Bank of Chile installs summit boxes on all 38 of Chile's 6,000m peaks |

The Bank of Chile has sponsored climbs of 38 routes, one on each of the country's 38 peaks over 6,000m. The boxes contain a book for summit testimonies. The intention is to publish summit testimonies when they are recovered at some point in the future. The company has also published guides to the normal routes on all of the peaks, in English as well as Spanish.

On 25 August German Robert Rauch and Bolivian Porfirio Chura climbed a new 1,300m route on Illimani's South face; the biggest face in Bolivia. The south face is not climbed very often: weather conditions and access are difficult and the routes are all long, on mixed ice and rock. |
